Welcome to Joy Upholstery
Hi, I’m Amy. I bring joy back into old furniture - get in touch today to make your chairs happy again.
Reupholstery
Furniture matters. An old chair is never just an old chair - whether it's a family heirloom or a recent find at a vintage fair - it holds memories, style, and provides a connection with past people and places.
That’s why getting a piece of furniture reupholstered can be so magical - you get to create something new, lasting and totally unique while keeping hold of something you love.
With reupholstery, the options are endless - from foam and fabrics to the little details like buttons and trimmings. I will work closely with you to create something that is exactly to your requirements.
I can advise on whether a full rebuild or just a re-cover is required, offer advice on suitable fabrics and send out fabric samples directly to you.
I specialise in both modern and traditional upholstery and work with armchairs, dining chairs, small sofas, ottomans and footstools.
Bespoke pieces
Do you have a space in your home that’s crying out for some upholstered joy? Whether it’s a footstool for your lounge, ottoman storage box for the end of your bed, or perfect-fit cushions for your kitchen window seat or outdoor furniture - I can create bespoke items that meet your vision.
“Amy created some beautiful bespoke cushions for my nursing chair. She took time to understand my vision and was so helpful throughout, even sourcing the perfect fabric. Thank you - I love them!”

About me
I’m Amy, a traditional and modern upholsterer based in Penge, South East London.
I have a lifelong love of antique furniture, and have spent decades filling my home with eclectic pieces that bring me joy. A few years ago, I signed up to a weekend upholstery course to start learning how I could bring some of my own pieces back to life. I fell in love with upholstery, and after some leisure classes and completing my Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers (AMUSF) Stage 1 qualification, Joy Upholstery was born!
If chairs make you happy, let’s chat. Contact me to discuss your upholstery project today.
